Meet Israel Portnoy
Israel Portnoy is a soulful singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer with a knack for weaving raw emotion into every note. Originally from the UK, Israel set out on his own at just 16 to build a life in the land of his namesake—Israel. His journey recently took a detour to New York City, where he currently crafts his art in a blend of old roots and new horizons.
In May 2020, Israel released his deeply personal debut solo project, Facing Flames feat. Guilda, a concept album born from ashes—both literal and symbolic. The project marked the anniversary of a devastating forest fire that consumed his home in Mevo Modiin, central Israel, taking with it his cherished collection of instruments, journals, and recorded music. Yet, from the destruction rose an inspiring body of work, with the title track and accompanying music video resonating deeply with audiences.
Israel's evolving discography includes AURA, a collection of songs dedicated to his daughter, and the intimate Poetry & Prayer Project. His song Imadi has been spotlighted in Jewish Journal, Authority Magazine, and OK! Magazine, reflecting his ability to touch hearts across diverse audiences.
As the lead singer of the Portnoy Brothers, Israel has shared stages and collaborated with artists like Idan Raichel, Alex Clare, Ivri Lider, Zusha, and Cardboard Foxes. Whether performing with his brother or diving into solo projects, Israel’s music feels like a warm conversation, rooted in spirituality, storytelling, and an undeniable love for life’s quiet moments.
